How to Play Blackjack on Duel

Rules, card values, player actions, payouts, a compact basic strategy chart, and how provably fair works on Originals. Enable Zero Edge windows and play with posted limits only.

Quick start

Goal

Beat the dealer with a hand total closer to 21 without going over 21. Blackjack pays 3 to 2 unless stated otherwise.

Card values

  • 2 to 10 count as pip value.
  • J Q K count as 10.
  • Ace counts as 1 or 11. Hand with Ace as 11 is soft.

Dealer rules

  • Dealer hits to 16 and stands on 17.
  • Check table info for S17 vs H17. Duel uses stand on all 17 unless noted.
Table limits, shoe penetration, and side bets can change EV. Side bets are optional and higher variance.

Player actions

Hit or stand

Hit draws one card. Stand ends your turn. Use basic strategy to decide based on your total and dealer upcard.

Double down

Double your bet and draw exactly one more card. Strong when total is 9 to 11 against weak dealer cards.

Split

If first two cards are a pair you may split to create two hands with an extra bet equal to the original stake.

Surrender

Give up the hand and lose half your bet. Use against strongest dealer upcards with weak totals if available.

Tip: Do not take insurance. It is negative EV for basic strategy play.

Zero Edge and fairness on Duel

Zero Edge windows

Selected Originals can run with 0 percent house edge up to posted limits. This removes long term drift and leaves pure variance. Limits cap exposure to protect against extreme streaks.

Provably fair decks

Rounds are derived from server seed, client seed, and nonce. Seeds are committed before play then revealed so you can reproduce the shuffle sequence in a verifier.

Reminder: Zero Edge does not remove risk. Bankroll swings can be large. Plan session loss and stop points.

Bankroll and common mistakes

Bankroll plan

  • Define session loss and win targets before you start.
  • Use flat bets or small unit scaling. Avoid chasing losses.
  • Track decisions. Most EV loss comes from strategy errors.

Frequent leaks

  • Taking insurance without card counting.
  • Standing on soft hands too often.
  • Not doubling 10 or 11 against weak upcards.
  • Refusing to split 8 8 against strong dealer cards.

Blackjack FAQ

What is a soft hand

Any hand with an Ace counted as 11. Example A6 is soft 17. If you draw and bust you can switch Ace to 1.

Should I ever take insurance

No for basic strategy. Insurance requires card counting to gain EV. Skip it in standard play.

When do I double

Typical doubles include 10 against 2 to 9, 11 against 2 to 10, and soft A3 to A6 against 4 to 6. Use the chart.

What does DAS mean

Double After Split. This improves EV for many pair splits. Check the table info panel to confirm.
